Pudding in Heaven?

Q: "Will there be pudding in Heaven? (This is a serious question.)" also "What does the Bible say about what Heaven looks like, and what will we do in Heaven?"

A:        Well, first of all we have to assume (since this is a serious question) that the real question here is, "Will there be food in Heaven?"  This is a difficult one to answer, mostly because the Bible doesn't really tell us.  What it does say is that Heaven will be a place with no pain (Rev 21:4), no night (21:25, 22:5), joy (Luke 15:10-31), and rest (2 Thes 1:7).  Sounds pretty good, doesn't it?  There will be singing, and dancing, enjoying God, and complete peace.

As for food, we don't know exactly.  We do know that there will be no hunger in Heaven (Rev 7:16-17).  It is assumed that means that no one will feel a want or need of food, but it does not in any way mean that we won't eat.  Perhaps we will eat, because it will be fun and joyful to eat, kind of like every day will be a really fun Thanksgiving dinner.  We don't really know for sure.

In the Old Testament it describes the land that had been promised for the Jewish people as a "land flowing with milk and honey" (Ex 3:8 as well as at least 20 other references).  This did not mean that when the Jewish people actually arrived in the land that there were actual rivers with milk and honey.  If you think about it, that would actually be pretty gross.  It would probably be fun for a little while, but you couldn't swim in it or you'd get really sticky, and it would smell really awful on a hot day.

But that wasn't the point.  The "milk and honey" thing was all a metaphor anyway.  It was God using metaphor to explain to the people that this would be completely unlike living in the deserts that they were used to.  This would be a place where they would have their needs met, and wouldn't have to worry about famine.  And you know what?  God was right.  When they got there it was unlike anything they had expected.

Heaven will be like that for us.  God can't even really describe it to us, because it is unlike anything we've ever experienced or imagined.  I don't know if there will be pudding.  I bet if there isn't pudding, I won't notice or care.  I'll be too busy enjoying everything else.  I hope I can fly there.  That would be pretty sweet!
